I am a professional editorial photographer and corporate photographer working in a reportage style for creative projects – stephenshepherd.photography
With over 20 years shooting editorial photographic commissions for corporate, educational, public sector, marketing, national press, and industrial clients.
I offer versatility and the ability to work on any photographic commission.
I work quickly and efficiently in even the most testing environments.
Often working unobtrusive editorial photography style as well as a reportage style and produce natural looking images of people and real life situations.
This style has proven very popular with corporate and business clients, for whom I often work on projects that involve reportage & location photography as well as portraiture.
Creating a body of work for prospectuses, brochures, web site and marketing collateral. I also work for clients in the educational sector and you can view this work on my dedicated website www.educationalphotographers.co.uk
I started my working life at The Daily Telegraph shooting editorial photography where I undertook commissions that included everything from celebrity portraits to feature stories, reportage and creative photography.
This press photography experience has given me the ability to work in any situation with people from all walks of life and you can view some of this work by using this link. Currently based in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, I travel across the UK and world wide on photographic commissions.
I like to work with available light whenever possible, shooting pictures in an unobtrusive reportage style and producing natural looking images of people and real life situations.
As a professional corporate photographer I find my clients like this style of work.
Corporate and business clients often require this type of creative photography and I often work on projects that involve location photography, director portraits and editorial style photography creating a body of work for prospectuses, brochures, web site and marketing purposes.
Working in construction and industry is always a challenge which is why as a professional editorial photographer I am aware of the action happening in front of me, unfolding and evolving continuously with little time to stop or pose anyone.
My editorial photography works perfectly in these situations. I can create real life vignettes and iconic construction photography for any client.
Photographing in a reportage style I have been commissioned by constructional and industrial clients that include Carillion, Tubelines, The Construction Industry Training Board, Bovis and Thames Water.
I work on commissions throughout the UK, travelling from my base in Gloucestershire and working in all areas of education and training.
I am currently retained as a contracted photographer providing educational photography and photographic services to the Department for Education, and hold contracts with The University of Reading and The National Construction College.
Recent commissions in education include: Portraits of Sir David Bell, Vice Chancellor, The University of Reading – Marketing photography for UCAS at Coventry University – Prospectus, web, wall prints, for schools in Swindon, Bath and Bristol. My dedicated educational website can be found here www.educationalphotographers.co.uk
I integrate into day to day situations with real people in any location. With my experience as an editorial photographer I can produce creative photography from business, corporate, life or educational scenarios.
I have undertaken photographic commissions for all of the UK’s national press titles for the last 20 years and I am still regularly commissioned by The Guardian, The Observer, the Times, The TES etc.
Shoots have ranged from celebrity portraits that include John Lydon, George Harrison and Barbara Cartland to working with Gordon Ramsey, shooting a theatrical production in Greece and feature, motoring, property and editorial stories for The Daily Telegraph.
There is not much that I have not tackled over the years. I plan to publish some of my early editorial photography here as negatives from my archive are scanned.
I work proactively, drawing on my ability to shoot around changing scenes and situations to create a body of work – as well as stand alone “iconic” imagery. I am highly experienced working on location for a wide variety of clients.

Lesley Heath, Brand Manager, CITB-ConstructionSkills.
“Stephen spent time listening to and interpreting the requirements for the project to re-vitalise our photography library.
He then translated this into an approach which has resulted in a transformed look to the brand image of CITB-ConstructionSkills. Stephen was great to work with, always had solutions to issues and didn’t bat an eyelid at the number of miles he had to cover to complete the project!
Thank you Stephen, it would be great to work with you again in the future.”
Jo Mills – Head of Marketing, The Royal Agricultural College
“He remains a pleasure to work with, understanding and fulfilling all the briefs that I set him”.
Chris Shipway – Thames Water.
“I have been particularly impressed with his ability to relax his subjects, and produce strong pictures in situations that do not immediately lend themselves to one”
I am now bringing my years of experience and knowledge to everybody at photoguru.uk
